In December 2024, Silkinc proudly joined NUAGES D'ORIENT - LA NUIT DES NUAGES ORIENTAUX PARIS BLOOM at the Louvre in Paris. This landmark event celebrated 60 years of Sino-French diplomatic relations, emphasizing cultural collaboration. As a leading innovator in Chinese silk craftsmanship, Silkinc was honored to represent China’s rich heritage alongside our time-honoured brand Xiu Niang.
Celebrating Cultural Exchange at an Iconic Venue
The event celebrated six decades of cultural ties between China and France, reflecting their shared passion for art and cultural heritage. Silkinc’s participation exemplified the integration of traditional Chinese artistry with modern aesthetics, symbolizing the harmony between cultures.
It was an honour to step into The Louvre, a global art hub, and bring the artistry and legacy of Chinese silk-making. This was showcased through silk garments, accessories but also through silk embroidery artwork . The development of the Mona Lisa in silk took our talented artisans more than three years to embroider. It is made up of layers and layers of the finest silk, that almost cannot be seen to the human eye, in order to make up the colours that match the painting.
The Cultural Meaning Behind the Garments
At the Into the Louvre: Oriental Charm show, Silkinc presented an array of meticulously crafted pieces, each deeply imbued with cultural meaning. The collection showcased the richness of Chinese craftsmanship, featuring traditional silk weaving techniques and iconic cultural symbols.
One of the highlights was the "Bamboo Splendor Collection" , which includes the Moon White Loose Jacquard Cheongsam for runway show, scarf and eye mask made from the unique double-weft Suzhou silk—a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage craft. The design features the graceful phoenix flying through a bamboo forest, symbolizing prosperity and a bright future. This design was created to convey the message of “hope and good fortune,” reflecting the positive and auspicious sentiments that are central to Chinese culture.
Another stunning piece, the "Auspicious Cloud 2025 CNY Collection", featuring an eye mask delicately embroidered with the image of a golden snake holding wealth—an auspicious symbol for the upcoming Year of the Snake.
The SILKINC Suhe Creek and Seine Flowing Water Silk Scarf draws inspiration from the landmarks of two major cities—Shanghai and Paris. The design beautifully contrasts the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, located along the Suhe Creek, with the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. This piece celebrates the friendship between the two cities and symbolizes their mutual growth and flourishing.
Silkinc’s Gratitude for This Honor
Participating in this prestigious event was a proud milestone for Silkinc. The opportunity to exhibit at the Louvre reaffirmed our mission to share the elegance of silk worldwide, fostering deeper cultural connections and celebrating the beauty of ancient practices and our heritage.
